Fitness Fun: Getting Started

I am like many others when it comes to health and fitness. I start all excited and and ready to live a fit life. I follow my favorite fitness peeps on YouTube and Facebook, watching them exercise while I sit on the couch eating my chips. Keep in mind I am not a fitness expert WHATSOEVER! These series of post are simple my struggles and triumphs seeing to get healthy and fit.

I have never been afraid to say how much a weigh out loud. Most of the time I get "no way you weigh that much", when in truth I do weigh that much. I am a lucky one where most of my weight goes everywhere! Not just in my ass...although I have a fat ass, which Matthew says he loves. I have always been good at covering up and making my weight work for me no matter how big or small I get. However even though I hear how great I look all the time, I do not feel great. I feel uncomfortable in my clothing, tired and slow. I also have a sugar addiction that I feel like I have little or no control over, at night I tend to eat candy, cookies with frosting or pasta! This has been something I have been battling since my parents died over a year ago.

So with careful thought I have made myself some goals I wish to reach towards

1. Drink more water ( I know how original)
2. Run a 5k for my birthday
3.Fit into my "fat" pants which are a size 10
4. Increase upper body strength
5. Be able to do 5 pull ups
6. Lose 25% of overall body weight

Starting weight is 203
Short term goal 180 by my best friends wedding in September
Long term goal 150 by the first of the year 2016

So if your good at math that is 53 total pounds in 6 months. That is 2 pounds a week, which is a lot!

So here is my plan which will most likely change over the next few months.

Working out! This is something that I actually hate. I do not like the gym, I like more out door stuff like hiking or playing baseball, however to loose 2 pounds a week I need to workout. So I have scheduled workouts. Planning on going to the gym after I drop the kids off at school and before work. I plan on working out 4-5 times weekly. I also plan on lifting weights which is something that I have little experience with, but I am going to put my fear aside and lift those weights! I also down loading the couch to 5k app on my phone to help me reach my goal of running a 5k for my birthday which is in July. My diet is simple I wish to reduce my sugar intake and limit my portions to actual portions. I also plan on practicing mindful eating. There is a difference between "I am still hungry" and "Am I stuffed". To increase my upper body strength to reach my goal of doing pull ups I plan on hanging my door bar and each day trying.

Wish me luck. Each week I plan on doing a post to update on my progress!

XOXO
Samantha

Thrift shopping

Thrift shopping can be the best and worst shopping experience in your life. You either find cool, trendy, unique and vintage pieces or you end up wasting your time shifting through clothes. I personally enjoy what I call the "hunt". Yes, while thrift shopping I feel like I am hunting for a rare animal! I always went to second hand stores as a child not because I wanted to but because my mom couldn't always afford new clothing. However it taught me that I could be dressed just as cool if not cooler than those who blew hundreds of dollars at the mall. Once I became an adult I went from going to Goodwill to going into second hand stores that sold higher end clothing. The method of finding perfect pieces was the same... I will forever be the huntress! Here are some key things to think about and do before you go on your thrift hunt. 1. See what you got!     Shop your own closet first. Do you have things that you never wear anymore? maybe to big or to small? If its in season...

Ride or Die

I am a little late with the "Ride or Die" tag, but I have always done things on my own time. I cannot take credit for this tag, let us thank Jaclyn Hill for that! So trying to narrow this down was actually really hard! I often switch up what a use from day to day, however when I thought about it, just I try new thing but there are my staples that I go back to time and time again.  Enough talk on with the list.
