THE BATTLE OF THE FINDING THE PERFECT FOUNDATION
So for some odd reason I got it in my head that in the middle of winter with my skin being dry, flaky and breaking out would be the PERFECT time to try new foundations! So I grabbed my coupons and shopped at my local Walgreens and Rite Aid. Walking through the makeup section can be overbearing because there are so many different kinds of foundations on the market. You have full coverage, ageless, photo finish it can be a little annoying honestly. Over the last month or so I tried six different foundations which can all be found at your local drug store.
Before we move on I should say that I don't like a luminous finish. I like my foundation and face to be overall matte. My skin right now is dry from it being winter but I also at times can look like I have an oil slick on my face. Each foundation I did use the Two Faced Hangover Primer.
First up is Rimmel, I tried the Stay Matte in Soft Beige and Match Perfection.
The Stay Matte had a good feel and this stuff is FULL COVERAGE. It was easy to spread and it was not drying. It felt a little cakey but I think this would be good for a night on the town when you need the full coverage. Price wise it was a steal being about 6 bucks.
Next is the Rimmel Match Perfection. I did not like this foundation at all! Price wise it is about the same as the Stay Matte. After about an hour, even with setting powder, my face looked so greasy. It felt heavy and I overall did not like it. Also the opening is bigger than my fingers so trying to get product out was messy.
I also tried two foundations from Revlon. I tried the Photo Ready Airbrush and the Color Stay Whipped.
The Photo Ready comes in pump form. It had a light airy, almost mouse like feel. It spread a little thin for me and I thought the coverage would be a lot better than it was. However it did not feel heavy on my face so I layered it and it came out good. It also had a nice finish. Overall I like this foundation. Price wise it was about 14 bucks.
The Color Stay was a full coverage foundation. This came in a little jar so you can dip a brush in it. It spread very easy and dried to a nice finish. It did not feel heavy and it covered very well. I did get a little greasy about 5 hours into my wear. Price wise I think it was about 15 dollars.
Last two are from Cover Girl and L'Oreal. I tried the Cover Girl Simply Ageless and the L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. The ageless was nice, I would say it is medium coverage. I liked that it came in a jar much like the Colorstay but that it came with a sponge applicator. I liked the packaging. This product also got a little to greasy for me. The Magic Nude is a perfect light coverage product. This product does not feel heavy and it is light coverage but you can layer it on if you wanted to. Both products are about 13 bucks.
I hope this helps you in your battle to find the perfect foundation. Next I think I am going to text out concealers.
