Meet the kitties!

Since Matthew and I began dating he has always wanted a dog. Matthew would often see other peoples animals and say how much he wished we could have a dog. We cannot have a dog in our apartment due to the lease agreement but always said once we buy a house we would get a dog. Many of our neighbors had cats and even though Matthew always wanted a dog he began to talk about how he would like to get a cat. We were not supposed to have cats either but decided that since our neighbors did we would get one. Matthew then told me how he wanted to volunteer at the local animal shelter, I thought it was a good idea, there he would get to know the cats and find the "perfect one". The benefit of getting an animal from the shelter is that it came with all of its shots etc so for us it would be great! The next day after I got home Matthew said he needed to show me some pictures. I sat there with him and looked at the most adorable photos of these pretty orange and white kittens. I thought at first they were from the shelter website. Matthew then went on to say that he found the post on Craiglist and that the kittens were about an hour and a half away. In my head I was thinking "there is no way we are driving that far plus we would have to get the kittens all there shots etc.". I thought we had a plan however after Matthew read to me there story I decided that we needed to go get a kitten. Matthew proceeded to tell me that the kittens were rescued from a woman who could be on an episode of "animal hoarders". The post went on to explain that he woman who had the cats had gotten from from a friend of a friends neighbor. It explained that she took in 10 kittens (not all from the same litter), the mother and another cat that was pregnant. She went on to say that some of the kittens were between 1-2 pounds at 8 weeks old and could not get there regular shots because they were so small, she also had to hand feed a few because they were to weak. It just broke my heart. I told Matthew we could get one cat, I am not a cat lady my sister is, and that we could go the following week. Matthew then stated that he told the woman we could go the following day. The following day we were making the hour and a half trip up north. Once we got to the woman house I was surprised that it did not smell of cats! She lead us to a back from which she had converted into a "cat room". The "cat room" didn't even smell of cats! We then sat down and began to play with some of the kitten. We saw one that was WILD! she had the prettiest marking on her. The woman explained that the kitten we were looking at was a feral kitten and that she had not been playing with any of the other kittens. She also would not let me pick her up! So I started to play with another little kitten who was so sweet! and fluffy! All of a sudden the feral kitten started to play with the fluffy kitten! The woman said she was very surprised but this and had not seen the feral kitten being nice to anyone! It was in that moment that we decided that we would be taking two kittens home that day! I then started to pet the mother of some of the kitten who was extremely small and thought about taking her too. In the end we ended up taking the two kitten because someone was coming to take the mother along with a few of her kittens later in the day. On the way home we had the kittens riding in the cat carrier and they were crying so bad! We then let them out in the back seat and I sat back there with them. They didn't want that either! They wanted to sit on or near Matthew...which they did for the majority of the ride home. We have now had them for about 3 weeks. It is like having a new born baby! They have so much energy and run all around and wake me up and scratch the shit out of everything! However I can tell you I am more than happy that we got them. I think its important to get your cats spayed and tutored. Also adopt or rescue animals before going to the store to buy an animal. Now for some photos of the cuteness!. Please meet XENA and Gabriel!

Thrift shopping

Thrift shopping can be the best and worst shopping experience in your life. You either find cool, trendy, unique and vintage pieces or you end up wasting your time shifting through clothes. I personally enjoy what I call the "hunt". Yes, while thrift shopping I feel like I am hunting for a rare animal! I always went to second hand stores as a child not because I wanted to but because my mom couldn't always afford new clothing. However it taught me that I could be dressed just as cool if not cooler than those who blew hundreds of dollars at the mall. Once I became an adult I went from going to Goodwill to going into second hand stores that sold higher end clothing. The method of finding perfect pieces was the same... I will forever be the huntress! Here are some key things to think about and do before you go on your thrift hunt. 1. See what you got!     Shop your own closet first. Do you have things that you never wear anymore? maybe to big or to small? If its in season...

Ride or Die

I am a little late with the "Ride or Die" tag, but I have always done things on my own time. I cannot take credit for this tag, let us thank Jaclyn Hill for that! So trying to narrow this down was actually really hard! I often switch up what a use from day to day, however when I thought about it, just I try new thing but there are my staples that I go back to time and time again.  Enough talk on with the list.
